At Saariselkä you really get the feeling of being in Lapland; the tree stand is scantty and there are only low growing leafy trees and bushes. The fells are treeless and easy to hike.

The night of the midnight sun, the time when the sun won’t fall behind the horizon, lasts at Saariselkä at its longest more than two months, from the end of May until the end of July.

In the wintertime the cross-country skiing and the snowmobile driving are included in the most popular activities, whereas in the summertime the hiking excursions and gold panning are among the most popular activities. In the summertime you may see a reindeer herd strolling around in the middle of the road!
